We have an exciting learning opportunity for your students!
The key to ensure kids have a healthy smile for a lifetime starts with education and good habits at an early age. Many times though, the only exposure to good oral hygiene information is when and if the child goes to their dentist. Dr. Hough set out to find a solution to help kids learn how to have good oral hygiene habits from starting at an early age.
At Hough Orthodontics we are proud to provide teachers with special programs that will help their students learn in an engaging, fun way about the importance of good oral hygiene. We work with teachers of grade levels, preschool all the way to elementary school, in the St. Louis community.
We have two exciting and engaging ways to bring a 25-30 minute educational lesson on good oral hygiene. Not only will Dr. Hough and a staff member come to your classroom, but we also set up field trips! While in classroom educational moments are fun and also convenient for the younger crowd, we have found that field trips to the office allows kids to become comfortable with the setting of an orthodontic office. Comfort for dental care, both general and specialty, is paramount. So many children evolve a fear, and we have found that a relaxing, fun field trip to the local orthodontist office helps ease anxiety for when the time comes for their treatment.
Whether we come to you, or you come to us, we have specialized educational moments pertaining to the age group we have the opportunity to visit with:
- The importance of teeth
- Keeping our Teeth Healthy
- The Dentist
- The Difference between Primary and Adult Teeth
- Keeping our teeth healthy
- Cavities and Decalcification
- The importance of good oral hygiene
- Brushing and flossing
- Gingivitis and Periodontal Disease
- The importance of wearing Mouth Guards
- The Orthodontist
At the end of the visit, each student will receive a goodie bag including the necessities for good oral hygiene: toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss, as well as some other activity sheets based on the grade level.
